Whether it is the wetland ecosystem and mangrove in Taiwan or all over the world, humankind will ultimately need to face the reality that the natural ecosystem is slowly being destroyed. And our design is exactly meant to raise people’s awareness of related issues and further promote and reinforce everyone’s consciousness of these disappearing natural environments. We are inspired by the mangrove found at the wetlands and are applying its formed space and shapes onto the architecture. Patterns of the plants’ roots and stems, curving and twisting airy space of the roots, and even their fighting spirits for survival are all postures that mother nature shall display. We are hoping that through our design, people would be able to reexamine architecture’s dialogues with nature and to further understand their importance.
